    Yellow Pages – and recycling

This one just popped up when I saw the annual copy of the Yellow Pages on our step.

Like many of us I've become far more aware of how much rubbish I produce and how much I recycle. I'm quite pleased that these days the recycling bin is usually much fuller on bin day than the black bin. It just seems crazy to me in this day and age of technology that this thing is still being printed and sent out willy nilly to every household and business!

Yes, there are many people who like it and use it - great, let them have it! There are far more I believe who do not use it, who either chuck it in a drawer and forget about it until next year when they bin it and replace it with the next copy or just bin it straight away. Most of us use online searches to find our plumbers etc or a telephone service, not a hard copy.

I have confirmed that you CAN opt out of receiving the directory and I fully intend to try as soon as their offices reopen in the morning. To opt out of receiving your annual copy of the Yellow Page Directory call 0800 671 444. I am slightly dubious that the people delivering them will actually miss out my doorstep but it has to be worth a try!
